Poem: Oceanography of Mind

Oceanography of Mind
By: Abbey Road Rutter

Lead me gentle to that world
Of deepest seas and shining pearl.
And make an ocean of my mind,
Thought currents flow, dream caverns find.
Instilling hopes of coral reefs,
We dance dramatic the sandy beach.
I venture out to deep sea dive,
In waters of the wisdom tide,
Come up for air, expel despair,
And leave those gloomy grotto’s there.
If in our mental waves to seek,
We find the island secrets keep,
Then with it comes the treasure trove,
Of Conquered Fears, a pirate’s cove.
For myself, a mind aquarium be,
The schools of fish psychology.
And never will I lose this brain,
It bears the scars of water stains.

Poem: Eighteen

Eighteen...
By: Abbey Anne Rutter

Eighteen...young, wild, and summer-sweet
You saved the night to be with me,
Thought I knew love, only desperately,
From that evening on.

Eighteen...little, lost, and so naive,
I trade all hope for your honesty,
Gave up love for a friend to be,
Exchanged right for wrong.

Eighteen...tragic, broken, and incomplete,
I’m still keeping your memory,
Write of this, our history,
And seeking days now gone.

Eighteen...living lust after fantasy,
Know only dreams of reality,
Take no escape from depravity,
For thus, I waited too long.

Eighteen...seeking solace or sympathy,
Since so I lost my integrity,
I can’t defend these iniquities,
But redemption comes at dawn.

Eighteen... onward lead toward fidelity,
My journey taking, renewed to be.
So hear this true, for I make free,
To own the ground I walk upon.
